Bio

PictureMy mom and me racing in my first race.
My name is Robby Kelley, I'm a 27 year old ski racer from Starksboro, VT. I started skiing at two years old at my family's ski area, Cochran's Ski Area in Richmond, VT. I grew up chasing my two older siblings, Tim and Jess, around the hill, and racing around with my cousins Caitlin and Ryan Siegle. My grandparents started Cochran's Ski Area in 1961 and sent all four of their children (my mom Lindy, aunt Marilyn, aunt Barbara and uncle Bob) to the Olympics, with my aunt Barbara Ann Cochran (Caitlin and Ryan's mom) winning gold in slalom in 1972. My mom and her three siblings all passed their love of skiing down to the next generation, with all 10 of us becoming competitive ski racers, and six of us making it to the US Ski Team.
I raced for Cochran's Ski Club until high school at which point I started attending the winter tutorial program, Mt. Mansfield Winter Academy/Ski Club, and attended my public high school, Mt. Abraham UHS, in the fall and spring. I raced for two years at the University of Vermont before making the US Ski Team in 2011. During my three years on the US Ski Team I won a National Championship in GS, won the North-American Cup GS title, scored points in each of my first two seasons on the World Cup, represented the United States in the World Championships in Schladming, Austria and most importantly became the first of the Cochran grandchildren to win the prestigious Thank God For Snowmaking Slalom at Cochran's Ski Area.
After three years of racing for the US Ski Team, I started Redneck Racing with three fellow Vermonters, Andrew Mcnealus, Tucker Marshall and my brother, Tim Kelley. I really enjoy the freedom that racing independently as a member of Redneck Racing gives me, being in charge of my own program as I set out to make my way to the top of the World Cup podium. I've created this website as a place to write down some thoughts, share some photos, create some videos and share my season with whoever would like to see it!
