I’m super excited to be teaming up with my former ski club/school, the Mt. Mansfield Ski Club and Winter Academy, as an ambassador this year. I had an awesome experience skiing there through high school and a PG year and I’m psyched to be able to return and ski with the next generation of MMSC/MMWA skiers. While I can’t wait for winter to come, I did spend a lot of time on snow over the past four months. Here are some photos from my training and racing this summer, starting with a two week camp to France with MMSC.
I went to Australia for a week last year and didn’t see a single kangaroo. So it was my one mission to make sure I saw at least one this year. I saw about a zillion. Sorry for so many pictures of them, I just thought they were the coolest animals. I also saw some pretty tropical looking birds, which is definitely a first for being on a ski trip.
The next race series was in Perisher, which would have the second most skiable acres in North America, behind just Whistler. We had to take four lifts just to get to the race hill. We also had to take a train just to get to the ski area. The races were Australia/New Zealand Cup races, which are continental cups, which means they have a minimum penalty of 6, which is the lowest you can score outside of a World Cup.
It was an awesome summer of skiing, and one of the most productive I’ve ever had. I had around 38 days on snow, and feel like I made some big progress in my skiing. I’m psyched with how it’s going and can’t wait to get back on snow again after some fall dryland training. Huge thanks to everyone who helped me along the way, it’s awesome to have received the support of so many people!
